Home Park experienced severe flooding in the winter of 2013/2014 when the River Thames burst its banks, resulting in the tennis Clubhouse being under water for 3 weeks.

When the flood waters subsided, the members worked hard to restore the Clubhouse back to a usable condition.

Carpet tiles were taken up, floor boards and walls were replaced because of the damp and rot, and a large hole in the roof, which has continually been repaired over the years, was fixed again.

Due to the age of the Clubhouse, members are extremely concerned that if the river were to flood again it would not be able to be restored to a usable condition. With this in mind, the members of Home Park Lawn Tennis Club are raising funds to build a new Clubhouse, on stilts to avoid the floods should they happen again. The new Clubhouse will have improved facilities including toilets and showers. There will be a bar facility which will allow the Club to host more social functions for members and visitors.

With a new, more prominent Clubhouse the club will attract more members for the enjoyment of playing grass tennis with spectacular views of Windsor Castle. Current members do feel the new Clubhouse is a must to attract new members; even though the Club’s membership fees are relatively low, members still expect certain facilities.

The project is predicted to cost £120,000, including the removal of the old Clubhouse and the installation of the new one.
